A prototype 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 nearly spun off the road at a recent test drive in Germany. The driver was not hurt, and the car was not damaged. According to camera footage, the car had three wheels off the road after attempting to make a hard right turn.
The manufacturer offered no explanation for the incident and has so far made no comment. Observers speculated that the car’s V8 may be more powerful than the driver thought, causing him to lose control in the turn.
The newest version of the iconic sports car is scheduled to be unveiled before the end of the year. Ever since 1964’s Gold finger, when inept assassin Tilly Masterson tried to run James Bond off the road in a 1964 Mustang, the car has captured imaginations on both sides of the Pond. Fortunately for 007, the 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 was not yet for sale at that time. This latest version would have left his Aston Martin in the dust.

Ford hopes that the new Mustang can topple the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in the race between the new age muscle cars. And, with a sticker price that may be $25,000 less than the Z/28, the GT350 might well accomplish that mission.
2016 Ford Mustang GT350 Engine
Like its predecessor, the GT500, the new 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 will probably have a 5.0-litre V8 tied to a manual transmission. But the new engine should exceed the 435-horsepower in the GT500 because of a lighter chassis; the speculation is that it could exceed 500-horsepower. The power is all engine and no supercharger.
Although it has a very large V8, and it’s clearly no Geo Metro, the new Mustang should be no more of a gas-guzzler than the other new muscle cars on the market.
There’s no doubt that the 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 has plenty of power. Given the results at the test run, it appears that the steering may not be able to keep pace. Spin-outs are certainly not uncommon in prototype runs, but the issue does bear watching.
New Mustang GT350 Exterior
When video of the prototype first surfaced, observers instantly noted a front tip spoiler, quad-tip exhaust and front fender vents, among some other changes. The GT350 also features carbon ceramic brakes. On back it will have fantastic quartet exhaust protruding beyond the diffuser, this give Mustang more muscular appearance.
2016 Mustang GT350 Price and Release Date
Other specifications are as yet unknown, but expect the 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 to stay true to its name in most respects. The biggest surprise may be the price. If this car really does start at around $50,000, the Z/28, Dodge Challenger and any other new muscle cars could be in for a spin.
